Wadsworth International Fellowships

The Wenner-Gren Foundation seeks to further the discipline of anthropology through its different grant making programs and other activities. Programs are designed to support basic, innovative research in all branches of anthropology worldwide and to further the communication of research ideas and results internationally through our conferences, publications, and other activities.

About the Fellowship

The Wadsworth International Fellowships are intended to provide support for students undertaking study leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree at universities where they can receive international-level training in anthropology. The Wadsworth program’s main goal is to expand and strengthen international ties and enhance anthropological infrastructure in these countries.

Monetary Support

The annual fellowship is $17,500 and can be used towards travel, living expenses, tuition, income taxes, student fees, insurance, books, research expenses and any other relevant categories of expenditure while studying at the Host Institution. The fellowship is renewable for up to two additional years upon successful completion of each preceding year’s study/training. A separate application can be made for an additional year of funding to support dissertation write-up.
