Mother Jones Ben Bagdikian Fellowship Program

Emerging journalists who want to immerse themselves in an investigative reporting environment will be hard-pressed to find a better opportunity than this.

Fellows will do hands-on research and fact-checking, and have opportunities to pitch online and print content.

Mother Jones fellowships are full-time positions lasting for six months. Those who are still in school or are only available part-time are not eligible to apply, nor can fellowships be used for course credit.

Given the caliber of fellow we are looking for, we recommend that students pursue reporting and publishing opportunities in school and beyond before applying to join Mother Jones.

Mother Jones is unable to furnish work visas for those applying from outside of the United States. For additional questions regarding eligibility, please email us at

Monetary Support

Mother Jones offers fellows $1500 a month for the first six months, with the possibility of staying on for six more months as a senior fellowship with an increased $1800 stipend.

Duration: 6 to 12 months
