IRRAD Doctoral/Post-Doctoral Fellowships

IRRAD is an initiative of the S.M. Sehgal foundation. It’s mission is to implement integrated village development in select village clusters, build capacity in rural development, undertake rural research, improve village governance, and serve as a premier knowledge institution for rural development and poverty reduction in India.

About the Fellowship

 The Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD) invites applications from doctoral/post-doctoral candidates for its research fellowship programme to work on rural development projects in the selected districts of India including Mewat district of Haryana and Alwar district of Rajasthan. Interested candidates must submit a research proposal on any of the following research themes:Influence of changing agronomy on economics of crops such as wheat and mustard in semi-arid regions of India. Comparative research study of the performance of water-management institutions in the semi-arid villages of India. Enhancing community participation through capacity building. Comparative research study of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) policies in Rajasthan and Haryana. Understanding changing gender roles through various interfaces of rural development  Relevance of integrating indigenous communication tools with technological innovations to effect wider dissemination of development discourses. Facilitators and impediments in capturing gender disaggregated data for water, sanitation and hygiene in India

Eligibility:

 Candidates must be full-time researchers or PhD students. Monetary Support Fellowship will include a total grant of Rs. 1, 80,000/-. The Duration: of the fellowship is six months, can be held for a single continuous period between January 2014 and June 2014, and may be extended to December 2014. A stand-alone report and final research paper published (or considered for publication) in a peer-reviewed journal is mandatory, which is to be submitted at the end of the term by the selected applicant. In case the study includes primary data collection in intervention areas of IRRAD, additional facilities such as residential accommodation and local transportation shall be provided.

 Duration: 6 Months (Extendable upto 1 year)
