The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is a research and exchange platform based in Leiden, the Netherlands. It encourages the multidisciplinary and comparative study of Asia, and actively promotes national and international co-operation. IIAS acts as a global mediator, bringing together academic and non-academic institutes in Asia and other parts of the world, including cultural, social and policy organisations. Without excluding other possibly interesting research areas in Asian studies, our focus is on urbanisation, heritage and globalisation. International Institute of Asian Studies, Netherlands, invites applications for fellowships in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities. About the Fellowship The position of affiliated fellow is intended for outstanding researchers from around the world, to work on an important piece of Asian studies research in the social sciences and humanities. Interdisciplinary interests are encouraged. Also welcomed are researchers who would like to work on a collaborative grant proposal or develop their PhD thesis into book publication.
If IIAS decides to sponsor your research by awarding a grant, you will receive: – A monthly grant of €2000 to cover the costs of housing, visa and health insurance; – Office facilities and access to the Leiden University Libraries; – A one-time grant of (max) €1000 towards the costs of (international) travel.
