- be an Indian national
- be domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir
- belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community of the state
- be pursuing higher studies at the post-matric level from a recognised institution/university
- have passed Class 10 from a recognised university or board of education
- have an annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources
Note:-
- Candidates who, after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in different subjects i.e. I.Sc. after IA or B.Com. after a B.A. or M.A. degree in one subject after an M.A. degree in other subjects are ineligible.
- Candidates who, after having completed their educational career in one professional line continue professional studies in a different line e.g. LLB. After B.T./B.Ed. degree will not be eligible.
- Students pursuing part-time courses are ineligible for the scholarship.
- Applicants must not be availing any other scholarship/stipend for the same course from any other source.
- Students pursuing a postgraduate course in medicine are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
