NUA-O Scholarship, Odisha 2024

Brief Description:

NUA-O Scholarship, Odisha 2024 is an opportunity offered by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha to provide financial assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the state. The main aim of this scholarship is to empower youth and encourage skill development including reskilling, and upskilling. The selected candidates will receive annual financial assistance of up to ₹11,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

be a permanent resident of Odisha
be enrolled in a regular full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course in a state university/government and non-government aided colleges/aided Sanskrit colleges/unaided private colleges
have taken admission through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) under the Higher Education Department’s jurisdiction

Note:- Due to the closure of admissions for the current academic year, an exception will be made for the 2023-24 financial year only. This exception applies to all colleges except unaided private colleges that utilize the SAMS admissions system.

The following students are ineligible to apply for this scholarship:-

Students enrolled in open universities, distance learning, or correspondence courses.
Students pursuing self-financed courses under PPP mode.
Recipients of the KALIA scholarship scheme for professional and technical courses.
Students without validation from their principal or educational institution.
Any additional categories excluded by the government.
Students whose parent(s) are employed by the Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Government Aided Institutions, or Autonomous Bodies.
Students whose parent(s) are current income taxpayers.

Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits and the amount varies depending on the student’s gender and category:

Male students: ₹9,000 per annum
Female students: ₹10,000 per annum
Students belonging to the SC/ST community or children of construction workers:
- Male students: ₹10,000 per annum
- Female students: ₹11,000 per annum

Note:-

This scholarship cannot be combined with the KALIA scheme for professional and technical courses.
The scholarship is available for a maximum of three years for undergraduate and two years for postgraduate courses. Students can receive this scholarship once for their undergraduate studies and once for their postgraduate studies.

Passport-size photograph of student
A self-declaration in the prescribed format including below information:
- Confirmation of permanent residency in Odisha.
- Residence details, including district, block, address, and college name.
- Aadhaar number and mobile contact.
- Bank account information, including account number and IFSC code. (Note: Students enrolled via CAF must ensure their bank details are accurate on the SAMS portal. If details are incorrect or outdated, use the self-declaration form on the college scholarship portal for updates.)
- Affirmation of meeting eligibility criteria and not falling under auto-exclusion conditions.
- Declaration confirming neither parent is an income taxpayer or subject to tax liability.
- Commitment to ongoing studies and regular class attendance.
- Declaration stating neither parent is employed in Central/State Government, PSUs, Government Aided Institutions, Autonomous Bodies, or receives grants from educational institutions.

Students above 18 years old must submit self-declarations using Form A. For students below 18, a declaration from their parents/guardians using Form B is required.

If any clause of the above-said forms is not applicable in the case of any category of students, then students may write in the said declaration that the clause is not applicable to them.
