Microsoft Research India is inviting applications for researcher and post-doctoral positions. A research position at Microsoft Research India offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of computer science research and technology development, and work with world‑class research colleagues on the meaningful research problem. Our researchers also have the opportunity to work with Microsoft’s product groups and influence products used by millions of users and catalyze the design of new products.
Current areas of work range from theoretical computer science (algorithms, cryptography), systems (distributed systems and networking, programming languages and tools, security and privacy), machine learning, natural language processing, human-computer interaction, and applications of technology to solve societal problems (such as education, health, affordable access to technology).

Eligibility criteria

• Successful candidates will have a PhD in computer science or related disciplines and a well-established research track record.
• Applicants should demonstrate leadership in their field as evidenced by high-quality publications, and a track record for innovations that are commensurate with their experience and seniority.
• Candidates must also be able to collaborate effectively with other researchers and product development teams.
• Post-doctoral researchers are hired for a one- or two-year fixed-term appointment. Visiting appointments can vary from a few months up to a year.

• We seek research candidates with PhDs and a proven track record of published papers and participation on program committees, advisory panels and editorial boards.
• The ideal researcher has outstanding communication skills and the ability to develop original research agendas, while still being a team player in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Internships

• Internships are available in all areas of research. In the application process, we’ll work with you to find the opportunity that best aligns with your interests.
• Internships are offered year round, though they typically begin in the summer. All internships are paid.
